1999 Scavenger Hunt List
This year's hunt was a little different: we made the teams find their own list.
Each team had to go find two children's alphabet books. Those were then their list, with each team allowed two items for each letter of the alphabet. (See the exact Special 1999 Rules.)
This worked pretty well, except that three hours was much too much time. Two hours would have been much much better -- maybe even an hour and a half. But we didn't decide to switch to this format until a few days before the hunt, and the time had already been announced as three hours. But at three hours, each team got essentially every item they could.
We had three teams of four: L'eau Tech Loosers and Death Spiral tied at 655 points; Sillycon Scouts came in with 635.
Items were worth 10 points each, with a 20% first-finder bonus.

- A - apples, ant, avacado
- B - buttons, beads, belt, book, bottle, ball
- C - crayons, camera, comb, cookies
- D - dress, doll, duck
- E - envelope, egg
- F - fork, flowers, fan, flag
- G - glass, grapes, gloves, glasses
- H - hammer, hat, hairbrush
- I - ice, ink, iron, ice cream
- J - jeans, jam, juice, jacket, jigsaw
- K - keys kangaroo (half credit for a stuffed one), kite
- L - lemon, leaf, lightbulb
- M - magnet, mittens, mushroom, mug, map
- N - necklace, needle, noodles, nuts, nose
- O - onion, orange, orangutan (half credit for a stuffed one)
- P - pencil, pen, peanuts, paintbox, paint
- Q - quilt, queen (half credit for doll, full credit for team member in drag)
- R - ribbon, ring, rattle, rope, ruler
- S - sandwich, strawberry, socks, scissors
- T - turtle, telephone, toothbrush, train, tomato, towel
- U - ukelele, umbrella
- V - vacuum, vase, vegetables
- W - watch, water, wire, whistle
- X - xylophone, xray
- Y - yo-yo, yoghurt
- Z - zero, zipper, zigzag, zebra (half credit for doll)
