Eleduck
My husband and I got a
Corbin Sparrow on Aug 22, 2000.
It is a single-passenger all-electric "personal transport module".
- It goes 40-60 miles per charge.
- It takes about 8 hours to do a full recharge.
- It can go up to 65 miles per hour. My husband has taken it on the freeway,
but I haven't been willing to do that yet.
- It registers as a motorcycle because it only has three wheels. However,
in California, "fully-enclosed three-wheeled electric motorcycles" are exempt
from the helmet law and don't require a motorcycle endorsement on the driver's
license.
Why "Eleduck"? First, my husband's last name (DeLaHunt)
and I have different last names, so friends call us collectively "the
DeLaDucks". Furthermore, we thought it looked a little like an electric duck,
hence "Ele-Duck".
I have to tell you, I feel like a total babe when I drive it. People
point, wave, honk, stare, and shriek. It's a real ego boost -- until they
start laughing!
